NYC Mayor Eric Adams announced a crusade against Texas Governor Greg Abbott as he asks Joe Biden for federal funds to address illegal migrants arriving in the city.

About a month ago, no Democratic government had echoed the serious immigration crisis facing the country at the southern border. However, after Abbott decided to draw attention by sending migrants to New York, Adams admits a crisis and asks for federal funds.

“NYC Mayor Eric Adams is calling for federal help because he says around 4,000 migrants have arrived in NYC in the last 3 months since May,” Fox News’s Bill Melugin said Wednesday.

According to the journalist, the City of New York claims it has no way to handle 4,000 illegal migrants, but Texas, which is the state on the border that receives the most migrants, is forced to receive more than 4,000 migrants a day, and even the Biden administration is not taking measures to address the crisis.

“Texas averages 4,000 migrants crossing its border *every single day*, and so far, has sent less than 100 migrants to NYC.”

Abbott recently sent a bus of illegal migrants to New York since Adams decided to declare the city a “sanctuary,” but now the same Democratic mayor is asking for federal funds for not being able to take on the situation.

Eric Adams threatens to send New Yorkers to Texas

“I already called all my friends in Texas and told them how to cast their votes.,” Adams said during a press conference this Tuesday, Aug 9.

“And I am deeply contemplating taking a busload of New Yorkers to go to Texas and do some good old-fashioned door knocking because we have to, for the good of America, we have to get him out of office,” the mayor added.

“@GregAbbottTX used innocent people as political pawns to manufacture a crisis,” Adams tweeted on Sunday, claiming that for NYC the buses with migrants generated “a crisis.”

“New Yorkers are stepping up to fix it — that’s our city’s values. But we need the federal government’s help — money, technical assistance and more,” he added.

But Abbott has also been sending illegal migrants to Washington, DC since April to protest the Biden administration’s refusal to act on the border crisis plaguing Texas.

“New York City is the ideal destination for these migrants, who can receive the abundance of city services and housing that Mayor Eric Adams has boasted about within the sanctuary city,” Abbott said in a statement on Friday.

He added, “I hope he follows through on his promise of welcoming all migrants with open arms so that our overrun and overwhelmed border towns can find relief.”

Record numbers of illegal migrants in the United States

As time goes by, the border crisis worsens to the point where illegal migration numbers are breaking historical records in the country.

Although throughout June there was a 14% decrease in apprehensions, the cumulative figure for the entire year marked a new high. In all, 207,416 migrant encounters were recorded in June, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, for a total of 1,746,119 apprehensions along the southern border since Oct. 1, the most the agency has recorded for any fiscal year since 1960.

Four South Texas counties declared a state of “invasion” due to the arrival of undocumented migrants across the border; in response, Governor Greg Abbott authorized state security forces to detain and transport migrants to the Mexican border, assuming the powers of federal agents.

Whereas the federal government is responsible for enforcing immigration laws, for more than a year Texas has patrolled the border vigorously to reduce illegal crossings.

Abbott’s move marked a significant expansion of the ordinary powers of the National Guard and state police, who until now were forced to turn migrants over to Border Patrol agents.
