European MP Blasts EU Parliament for ‘Chinafication of Europe’ as It Renews Covid Digital Certificates

The European Union on Thursday renewed Covid Green Certificates for another year in a move that one Member of Parliament (MP) is calling “digital tyranny.”

“The Digital Green Certificates was the first instrument imposed by [EU President] Ursula von der Leyen that is leading to the Chinafication of Europe and to a digital tyranny,” said Christian Terhes, Member of Parliament representing Romania and the Christian-Democratic National Peasants’ Party.

“In 2021, Commissioner Didier stood right here in this plenary and said ‘parliament needs to move fast without debates to pass the Green Certificate in order to ‘save people’,” Terhes went on. “The majority of MEPs believed that false narrative and voted in favor of the Green Certificate. The usage of this certificate in the last year proved that the real purpose of it did not have any medical reasons, but to ‘domesticate’ the citizens into compliance and submission.”

On Thursday, the European Parliament plenary ignored Terhes impassioned speech and endorsed the deal with member states to extend the legal framework of the EU Digital COVID Certificate for another 12 months.

“MEPs backed the agreement reached on 13 June, which aims to prevent restrictions to EU free movement in the event of new variants or other pandemic-related threats, with 453 votes in favour, 119 against, and 19 abstaining (union citizens), and 454 in favour, 112 against, and 20 abstentions (third-country nationals),” the EU announced. “The current rules, which were due to expire next week, will be valid until 30 June 2023.”

“In response to Parliament’s request, the text states that member states should not restrict the free movement of EUDCC holders in a way that is disproportionate or discriminatory,” the EU continued. “The European Commission will assess the impact of the EUDCC on free movement and fundamental rights by the end of 2022, and can propose its repeal, if the public health situation allows, based on the latest scientific advice from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the Health Security Committee.”

There is no known Covid vaccine that stops the spread of the virus, therefore, ‘Covid passports’ are medically irrelevant.

Meanwhile, the president of the European Union announced the body’s decision last week to accept Ukraine as a candidate to join the 27-member bloc.

“Ukrainians are ready to die for the European perspective,” EU President Ursula von der Leyen said in Brussels. “We want them to live with us the European dream.”

Ursula von der Leyen made the announcement while wearing a yellow blazer over a blue blouse, representing the Ukrainian colors.

“It’s the first step on the EU membership path that’ll certainly bring our victory closer,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky tweeted in response.

Too bad that victory doesn’t mean that the rights of Europeans’ citizens will be respected and defended. The Chinafication of Europe, indeed.
