Joe Biden’s Cabinet: a Carbon Copy of Obama’s that will Plunge America… into the Past

Joe Biden’s action plan for the U.S. presidency shows that the Democrat, in addition to being “stuck in the past,” would be willing to revive the mistakes made by the Barack Obama administration.

This week Biden announced part of his Cabinet, made up mostly of former officials from the Obama era, of which he was vice president, without taking into account the great failures that they wrote in the history of the United States.

Republican Senator Marco Rubio sarcastically levied serious criticisms of Biden’s Cabinet: “Biden’s Cabinet picks went to Ivy League schools, have strong resumes, attended all the right conferences, and will be polite and orderly caretakers of America’s decline,” Rubio wrote.

“I support American greatness. And I have no interest in returning to the ‘normal’ that left us dependent on China,” added,

Joe Biden: Back to the failures?

Michael Goodwin published an article in the New York Post where he noted that not only does Biden’s fondness for old things worry him, he said he also worries about the policies he will implement.

Biden gave John Kerry a seat in the National Security Council. Kerry is the architect of the flawed agreement with Iran and the man responsible for signing the Paris climate agreement. Two major mistakes by the Obama administration that Biden hopes to revive.

“The deal with Iran coddled and funded the murderous mullahs and their terror brigades while paving the way for them to obtain nuclear weapons. Biden, perhaps unaware of the changes in the Middle East over the past four years, has talked about wanting to return to it,” Goodwin notes in his article.

Joseph Humire, a hemispheric security analyst and director of the Center for the Study of a Free and Secure Society, told El American that the Obama administration, of which Biden was vice president, went “very soft” on China, making it the influential country it is today. He emphasized that to Iran he gave away “many privileges”.

“The problem was not to sign an agreement with Iran, but how to reach a fair agreement. The way in which that agreement was reached by Obama was very bad and irresponsible, with many gaps, granting many privileges to Iran and getting very little benefits in return, and without any guarantees,” he said.

“If Biden wants to take up that agreement again, he has to do it better than in previous years, because the last one only led to more failures,” he explained.

Other evidence that Biden would seek to revive more past mistakes is reflected in the election of Antony Blinken as secretary of state. During the Obama administration, Blinken came close to allowing China to become the powerhouse it is today by stealing American technology and even jobs.

“Blinken represents old-school Democrats who, like Clinton or Obama, built a flexible foreign policy in which the United States plays a balanced role,” Camilo Bello points out in his article for El American.

With Jake Sullivan as National Security Advisor, Biden would bring back a “rational” approach to relations with China.

Another choice from the past is Alejandro Mayorkas to head up Homeland Security. Mayorkas joined the Obama administration in 2009 as director of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. (USCIS). He was promoted to the post of assistant secretary of the Department of Homeland Security and then confirmed in office in December 2014 after a Senate vote.

The future Homeland Secretary was Obama’s accomplice in the creation of the punitive immigrant cages. He was also one of the officials who negotiated with the Cuban regime to relax sanctions and facilitate bilateral trade, while the tyranny further repressed the island’s population.

Reference should also be made to the appointment of Janet Yellen as Biden’s Secretary of the Treasury. A November 25 article by Blommberg noted that “Yellen should reflect on past mistakes. “Yellen has been less concerned about full employment and more about long-term debt than would be ideal at this time. She could change the conversation in Washington in futile ways,” the article notes.

The economist and writer in El American, Juan Felipe Vélez noted that “Yellen, as a good disciple of her master, Nobel laureate Joseph Stiglitz, believes in government intervention to generate and sustain jobs. This is a position that she expressed during her stay at the FED, despite the fact that her opinion on the country’s fiscal policy was not within her competence”.

“According to several analysts, the increase in interest rates in 2015 was rushed by Yellen, which led the nation to a small recession in 2016,” he added.

“Another important task of the Secretary of the Treasury is to ensure the integrity and security of the financial system. That is, that it is not used to launder the assets of criminals and dictators like Nicolás Maduro. With respect to Venezuela, Yellen has not spoken out about it, and there is a fear of a more lax administration in the face of Venezuela’s tyranny, as Yellen may not follow up on the work begun by his predecessor, Steven Mnuchin, of attacking the financial arms of a regime involved in drug trafficking,” he said.

If ratified, Joe Biden would assume the Presidency of the Republic next January 20, the moment in which he would be sworn in and, furthermore, would start an administration with officials that served Obama and, were they to not modify their positions, could have the same pitfalls as in the past.
