‘Trans’ Inmate Rapes Woman at NYC’s Rikers Island; Gets Sentenced to 7 Years

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark confirmed Monday that a transgender inmate raped a female prisoner while in the women’s prison and detailed that the inmate was sentenced to seven years. The incident occurred at Rikers Island.

33-year-old Ramel Blount, known as Diamond Blount, pleaded guilty to attempted rape on April 7 following a plea agreement. The prosecutor detailed that Blount, approached a 33-year-old female inmate in the bathroom of the Rose M. Singer facility on Feb. 8, 2021, after the victim had just showered.

“Sexual violence against anyone is unacceptable,” Clark said in a statement.

Details about the transgender inmate

As officials told the New York Post, “Blount held the victim down by the back of her neck and raped her, investigators said. The victim reported the incident to jail officials, and a rape kit was administered, which matched Blount’s DNA in the New York State Registry.”

It was also learned that Blount received a prison sentence of seven years, with an additional eight years of post-release supervision. Similarly, an order of protection was issued and Blount must also register as a sex offender.
