Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials estimate that more than 184,000 migrant children could cross the border in 2021. The projection, made on Fox News, comes in the midst of one of the biggest immigration crises the United States has ever faced, now under the Joe Biden-Kamala Harris administration.

“We’ve never seen anything like this before,” said sources familiar with the matter whose identities were not disclosed.

Amid this reckoning, thousands of migrants continue to move in caravans toward the U.S. Although Democratic congress embers such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claim that to recognize the crisis is to have supremacist ideals, other representatives, such as Republican Beth Van Duyne (TX), have warned about the seriousness of the situation.

For his part, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has assured that it is necessary for the federal government to focus on the migrant crisis and has asked Vice President Kamala Harris to go to the site, in her role as Biden’s designee, to learn about the issue first hand and provide a solution.

This Thursday, Abbott published a balance sheet on the management to contain the crisis. In addition, he detailed that among the arrests there are also crimes related to sexual abuse at the border crossing point. According to the Republican, there have been 598 criminal arrests and more than 16,000 referrals of illegal immigrants to CBP.

The border crisis and the flow of unaccompanied migrant children comes after the Democratic administration lifted the immigration measures taken by former President Donald Trump, which had resulted in the country having the lowest illegal migration in the last 75 years.
