69% of Hispanic Americans disapprove of Joe Biden’s handling of the border crisis that has broken the all-time record for illegal immigrants in the last 20 years.

A Quinnipiac poll released Wednesday, October 6 revealed that only 23 % approve of Biden’s handling of the immigration issue; while 41% of Hispanics surveyed say he is “not aggressive enough” in dealing with the crisis.

The study separates two migration issues; one is how Biden is dealing with “immigration problems” and the other is how he is “handling the border situation.”

Regarding the first, a majority (69%) of Hispanics disapprove and only 23% approve, meanwhile 9% did not know how to respond.

Regarding the current crisis on the border with Mexico, the majority (68%) of Hispanics disapprove of how he is handling the crisis, while 24 % believe he is handling it correctly.

A curious finding in the survey is that many Hispanic Americans believe that Haitian migrants who recently crossed the border illegally are entitled to the opportunity to prove the merit of their asylum claims before they are deported.

Recently, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas revealed that 13,000 Haitian immigrants have their cases in the hands of an immigration judge and 10,000 of them have already been released into the United States.

While the Quinnipiac poll suggests that half of Hispanics want to increase deportations of illegal immigrants, 48 % disagree that the Biden administration specifically deports Haitian immigrants without first allowing them to seek asylum.

To the question “Has the Biden administration been too aggressive in deporting undocumented immigrants, not aggressive enough, or has the Biden administration been acting appropriately when it comes to deporting undocumented immigrants?”, 41 % of Hispanics said it has not been aggressive enough and 29 % said it is acting appropriately.

Border Crisis in Numbers

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that there were 208,887 migrant apprehensions in August, a 317 % increase over the same month but in 2020.
