Biden Advisors Propose More Migrants Amid Border Crisis

Leer en Español

Advisors to president Joe Biden believe more migration and higher spending on child care is needed to increase the nation’s labor force, the annual report of the President’s Council of Economic Advisors released Monday noted.

According to the document, the country is facing a labor shortage following the economic crisis generated during the COVID-19 pandemic. Likewise, the advisors highlighted that the lack of workers was not only due to the coronavirus, but also to the long commutes that citizens have to make to their workplaces.

“The report draws attention to the fact that without increased immigration and greater efforts to encourage more adults to participate in the labor market, the labor force is likely to remain constrained in the future,” EFE reported.

In addition, the advisors state that, in their opinion, if their recommendations are not taken into account, the economic crisis in the United States is likely to worsen and, therefore, they believe that the government should design a plan to address the situation.
