Simon Gwynn, a progressive journalist, referred to a leaked draft of the Court’s decision that would establish that it is up to the individual states to make a decision on abortion. In his messages, Gwynn asked about the possibility of killing two Supreme Court justices.
“If you had the chance to kill Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, the two oldest right wing Supreme Court judges should you do it while Biden can get his nominees to replace them confirmed?”
After Twitter users criticized his message, Gwynn deleted the tweet. He claimed that his question was irresponsible. However, he posted another message that was also criticized by other people. “FYI I don’t endorse murdering anyone, but don’t think there’s anything wrong with thought experiments,” he commented on the digital platform.
Security of Supreme Court justices
Simon Gwynn’s comments come at a time when the safety of Supreme Court justices is under threat following the leak of the document and protests have been reported in several states across the country.
It was known on Thursday that a group of protesters attacked pregnancy centers in Portland and Oregon. The information was published by pro-life activist Lila Rose, who stressed that, in her opinion, they are Antifa members.
Attacks are also being planned for other places, such as churches. The organization Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights, which posted a video showing a Mass being disrupted, has called on its Twitter followers to demonstrate on Mother’s Day against Catholics.
“Whether you’re a ‘Catholic for Choice’, ex-Catholic, of other or no faith, recognize that six extremist Catholics set out to overturn Roe”, the call reads.
This Friday it also became known that a metal fence of more than 2 meters high was installed by the police around the Supreme Court, after protests have been going on for days in front of the building.
