Neither the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, nor the President of the Council, Charles Michel, have made any pronouncement on the historic victory of the brand new Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni, a silence that exposes the ideological mood of the highest representatives of a European Union (EU) that is increasingly woke.
The silence of the European Union differs from, for example, the public congratulations outlined by von der Leyen when French President Emmanuel Macron defeated his rival Marine Le Pen and won re-election.
However, the silence of the European Union is not at all surprising. Days before the Italians came out to vote massively for a genuinely conservative project, based on a platform of God, Country and Family, von der Leyen haughtily threatened the Italians by suggesting that the EU could apply pressure mechanisms against Italy.
This is all the more troubling if one understands the context: Italy is not just any country within the European Union. It is, in fact, the founding country and the third largest economy of this organization, only surpassed by Germany and France. However, its authorities turn a blind eye to Meloni’s historic triumph only because she is conservative, Catholic and opposed to radical progressivism.
Meanwhile, the British newspaper The Telegraph revealed this September 27 that the European Union invested almost one million euros to promote an LGBT agenda through drag shows and woke schools.
The priorities of the European Union seem to be clear: to defend wokeism and all its variants; while not respecting the sovereign decisions of the people to choose other paths for their countries.
