Adam Schiff is Stumped on Why FBI Waited So Long for Trump Raid: ‘I Don’t Know’

House Intel Committee Chair Adam Schiff (D-CA) may not be the ideal guy to bring ‘intelligence’ to the table on a Sunday morning when it comes to discussing the FBI’s unprecedented raid on former President Trump.

So, when Schiff appeared on ‘Face the Nation’ on Sunday morning, he had a priceless reaction when asked point blank about the FBI waiting so long to raid Donald Trump’s home for alleged classified documents that affected national security.

“So if there were truly materials of this classification level, and it’s been publicly reported elsewhere that there were materials related to nuclear programs, for example, if there was that sensitive level of information being held, why did Justice Department officials wait 18 months after the end of the Trump presidency?” Margaret Brennan asked. “What change that made this immediate?”

“Uh, I don’t know,” Schiff said. “Uh, but it, uh, if, uh, the Trump people represented that they provided all the classified or national security information and didn’t, that’s a serious problem. And I could tell you anyone in the intelligence community that had, uh, documents like that marked top secret SCI, uh, in their residence after authorities went to them, um, you know, they would be under serious investigation.”

This is obviously dodging the serious issue of the timing of the FBI raid, which has obvious political overtones.

The Feds met with the Trump legal team in June, when it was mutually agreed that the papers would be stored under ‘lock and key.’ Trump’s attorney attested to there being no ‘classified documents’ remaining at Mar-A-Lago. The FBI left — until August.

The raid itself occurred when Donald Trump was in New York fending off politically motivated prosecution. It took place 565 days after Donald Trump left the White House. It was carried out in the wake of a failed January 6 committee ‘show trial.’

Worst of all, it was executed three days after the judge magistrate signed off on it — despite the judge’s track record of anti-Trump animus and the search warrant’s unjustifiably breadth.

The FBI raid was obviously politically timed to tarnish the former president ahead of the midterm elections. Trump is on a hot streak with candidate endorsements and is poised to make another successful presidential bid in 2024 — provided the unlikely event that the U.S. actually has a free and fair election this time.
