E-commerce giant Amazon on Tuesday accused the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC), an independent government body, of targeting the firm’s founder and former CEO, Jeff Bezos.

In a brief to the FTC, the Seattle (Washington state) company complained that the demands the agency is imposing in its investigation of the company are excessive and burdensome, and that it has unnecessarily called Bezos and current CEO Andy Jassy to testify.

Amazon already asked the FTC last year to recuse its director, Lina Khan, from cases involving the company, because it considers her biased and with animus toward the company.

Khan, appointed by President Joe Biden to head the competition watchdog, is known for her criticism of big tech companies, many of which —including Amazon— face investigations or litigation for alleged monopolistic practices.
