Only 16% of Americans believe that democracy in the U.S. is thriving. This is bad news for the institutions and the rule of law oin the oldest liberal republic in the world.

An AP and NORC Center for Public Affairs Research survey revealed that almost half of Americans, 45%, think that democracy is not working properly, while another 38% say it is working only somewhat well.

According to AP, there is a link between the poll results and the violent events on Capitol Hill last January 6th.

“In October, about two-thirds of those who identify with the GOP, 68%, said democracy was working at least somewhat well. That figure plummeted to 36% in January. Democratic views whipsawed in the opposite direction, with 70% reporting democracy working at least somewhat well compared with 37% in the fall,” the news agency notes.

According to the poll, two-thirds of Americans say Joe Biden was legitimately elected president, and only one-third of Republicans hold that view.

Also, according to the survey, 70% believe that Biden respects democratic institutions at least to a good extent. But there is a sharp political divide with about 96% of Democrats saying Biden respects institutions, compared to about 42% of Republicans.

Eighty percent say a democratically elected government is very or extremely important to the nation’s identity; while 88 percent say a fair judicial system and the rule of law are very or extremely important, and 85 percent have similar feelings about individual liberties and freedoms as defined by the Constitution.

The survey was conducted between Jan. 28th and Feb. 1st among 1,055 adults. According to AP, the sampling margin of error for all respondents is plus or minus 3.8 percentage points.

Democracy and rule of law are hanging on a thread

Eighty percent of the population said that a democratically elected government is “very or extremely important to the nation’s identity.” However, TIME magazine recently revealed how a conspiracy was hatched against Donald Trump to lose the election.

Although the conspiracy does not seem illegal at first glance, it became evident that powerful people from different sectors and ideologies managed to control the flow of information to damage the Republican candidate.

According to the authors of the investigation, the conspiracy managers considered that “democracy is fragile” and “had to be defended”, so they decided to act against the Republicans behind the scenes.

TIME revealed that for more than a year “a loosely organized coalition of operatives rushed to shore up U.S. institutions.”

“They got states to change voting systems and laws and helped secure hundreds of millions in public and private funds. They fended off voter suppression lawsuits, recruited armies of poll workers, and got millions of people to vote by mail for the first time,” the report reveals.

The article, which for the first time exposes the left’s conspiracy against the Republican campaign, also highlighted the role of Big Tech and the censorship thit implemented:

They successfully lobbied social media companies to take a harder line against disinformation and used data-driven strategies to combat viral defamation

What is behind this?

Intelligence specialists have warned that “enemies of the United States seek to undermine the rule of law and our unity”.

Before the conspiracy published by TIME became known, and before the elections, El American interviewed Joseph Humire, a global security specialist, who has assured that the rule of law in the country has been attacked by external powers.

Humire, Executive Director of the Center for a Secure Free Society (SFS), gave an exclusive interview to El American in which he revealed that the main enemies of the United States have managed to attack the country’s “Center of Gravity”: the rule of law and the unity of the American people.

The specialist highlighted how the left and great enemy powers such as China, Russia and Iran are managing to break the solidity of the freest and most powerful country in the world.

“They have sought to attack our rule of law and our social unity and that is what we are seeing right now. It’s not something that started in 2020, it’s something that started decades ago using propaganda, computer warfare, infiltration and subversion to divide America and set Americans against Americans,” he said.

This is not just a rhetorical fight but a moral fight and asymmetric wars are fought on a moral level. This is not about Democrats and Republicans. There are good Democrats and good Republicans, there are people who out of moral conviction would never knowingly receive a payment from a foreign government or would not go to the interests of America’s enemies, but this cannot be said of everyone, unfortunately, there are also Democrats and Republicans who out of power would be willing to make that kind of transaction and that is what is eating us from the inside.
