Georgia’s Democratic senator-elect Raphael Warnock not only came to embrace Communist Fidel Castro 25 years ago, but in 2014 he welcomed into his church the Rev. Jeremiah Wright who cursed the United States.
“Raphael Warnock not only praised Jeremiah Wright’s sermon ‘God Damn America’, but thought it was so good that he invited him to Ebenezer Baptist Church to deliver it,” said Republican candidate David Loeffler’s communications director, Stephen Lawson.
“Does Georgia really want a U.S. senator who thinks God should condemn America,” he asked.
Wright said the United States deserved God’s curse for its military actions in Iraq: “Don’t God bless America; God curse America,” Wright said at the time. “That’s in the Bible, for killing innocent people. God curse America, for treating its citizens as less than human. God curse America as long as she tries to act like she’s God and He’s supreme.”
Wright blamed the Jews in 2009 for preventing him from talking to Obama. He also made a series of inflammatory comments, including when he said after September 11th that “America’s chickens are coming home to roost.”
Last week, Warnock rejected accusations that he was anti-Semitic when his opponent, Senator Kelly Loeffler, Republican of Georgia, tried to link him to Wright.
Loeffler has repeatedly referred to her Democrat opponent, and now senator-elect, as the “liberal radical Raphael Warnock.”
“The Democrats want to fundamentally change America, and the agent of change is my opponent, the liberal radical Raphael Warnock,” Loeffler said during the last debate.
Senator Marco Rubio also called the Democratic senator-elect “radical”: “The Democrat Senate candidate for the Senate, Raphael Warnock, said, ‘You cannot serve God and the military’ at the same time. These, and even crazier things, are what the radicals who control the Democrat Party’s activist and small donor base believe.”
Antisemitic Warnock?
“I am with Israel,” Warnock proclaimed in a November 9th op-ed article, claiming that his views are being distorted “for political gain”.
“Claims that I believe Israel is an apartheid state are patently false, I do not,” Warnock wrote.
“…I am firmly opposed to the BDS movement and its anti-Semitic underpinnings… He concluded that he can count on me to support the Jewish community and Israel in the U.S. Senate,” the now senator-elect said in the midst of the election campaign.
However, an investigation by the Investigative Project on Terrorism into the background of the senator-elect revealed new unreported allegations by the Democratic candidate against Israel.
Journalists Steven Emerson and David Swindle revealed six of Warnock’s most extreme accusations in a letter he signed with other pastors published by the National Council of Churches in March 2019 condemning Israel.
In the letter, the Democrat compared Israel to “oppressive regimes. He also compared the security fence between the West Bank and Israel with the “Berlin Wall”.
While Warnock can assure that today he is “with Israel,” the voters in Georgia remain doubtful. Emerson and Swindle wonder: Can you really trust that he will do so tomorrow when, as recently as last year, he felt comfortable signing his name with the claim that Israel was comparable to multiple racist and totalitarian states?
Socialist Warnock?
Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders has publicly stated his support for Warnock, and the senatorial hopeful supports expansion of the Affordable Care Act.
In an interview with Atlanta Magazine, the senator-elect talked about a kind of drug price control: “(…) I would hope to work across the aisle to reduce the cost of prescription drugs through price negotiations, which includes pushing for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid to have the power to negotiate lower drug prices.”
Warnock also talked about putting pressure on the big pharmaceutical companies: “At the federal level, we can push for Congress to reduce the power of special interests, like the big pharmaceutical companies.”
Democrats are pinning their hopes on Georgia to define the role they will play in the Senate. The race for that state is the Republicans’ chance to curb and control the initiatives of the radical left.
In fact, if the Democrats succeed in winning Georgia’s Senate seats, regulations such as gun control could become a reality, especially if Kamala Harris were to break a tie in the Senate.
Republicans have controlled the upper house for the past two cycles, limiting Barack Obama’s agenda and pushing Donald Trump’s. On these elections will depend then the “free” progress of the next president of the United States’ agenda.
