AOC Now Blames Capitalism for Low Birth Rate, Calls for Higher Immigration

ALEXANDRIA OCASIO-CORTEZ (AOC) lashed out again at rich people. On this occasion, the Democratic congresswoman is now claiming that capitalism is responsible for young people not wanting to have children, arguing that migration is the solution to the low birth rate.

“There are quite a few countries that are really struggling because young people, under the burdens of capitalism and living in a society that is increasingly concentrating wealth among the rich, we’re not having kids,” Ocasio-Cortez said in some videos posted on her Instagram stories.

She took the opportunity to promote migration and defended funding for social programs that cater to migrants. “We actually need immigrant populations to help balance things out. We can’t continue to fund social security, Medicare, all of this stuff without immigrants. And it’s always been that way. Don’t act like this is some new trend or anything like that”, she said.

AOC’s proposal

The congresswomen’s statements come after the Census Bureau released data in April detailing that overall fertility trends from 1990 to 2019 were relatively stable compared to previous decades, but fertility rates for women ages 20 to 24 declined by 43%.

“While broadly stable, annual births in the United States declined from about 4.1 million to 3.7 million from 1990 to 2019,” the study states.

However, Ocasio-Cortez’s push for people to migrate comes at a time when the US is facing a border crisis due to the arrival of thousands of illegal migrants.

This week it was revealed that nearly 2.5 million undocumented migrants were apprehended at US borders in the first 11 months of fiscal year 2022, according to data released by Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
