Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich asked President Biden to replace VP Harris as “border czar” in a letter on Wednesday. Brnovich said that after several weeks in office, Harris has ignored the border crisis.

Brnovich argues that the vice president has not made any effort to implement measures to address the effects of the immigration crisis. “We are now nearly 50 days into her appointment, and Vice President Harris has shown little interest in observing what is happening along the border and has failed to articulate any plan to deal with the devastating effects of this crisis” the letter states.

In addition, it highlights that Harris has traveled to other states, but has not approached the border point. For the Arizona attorney general, it is an insult to Americans. “Instead, she has traveled to other states for unrelated and less-pressing matters. Mr. President, this is a slap in the face to Arizonans who helped elect you to the highest office in the land.”

Brnovich also explains that the crisis at the southern border has intensified since January and described the situation as a tragedy. In March, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey offered statements similar to those now being made by the state’s AG.

“If President Biden’s intention was to show that he is taking the crisis on our border seriously, he has actually done the opposite by selecting Vice President Harris to lead on this issue,” the governor said at the time.
