The fact that some politicians with statesmanlike credentials are concerned about the future of the United States cannot be understood only as a personal opinion, but also as an assessment that concerns us all.

Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, and one of the men who has marked American politics in the last decades, has warned that left-wing sectors have taken it upon themselves lately to generate a political debate about an alleged internal conflict in the Republican Party that does not exist.

In a recent article published on Fox News, Gingrich acknowledges that “nothing would make them happier than to see Republicans tearing each other apart in a fight over President Trump and the future of the Party.”

The same progressive politicians and media who constantly remind us that the people arrested in grief and anger during the violent riots over Floyd’s death are innocent until proven guilty do nothing more than demonize the siege of the Capitol by extremist groups as a pretext to criminalize and destroy the conservative movement in America.

We must understand how fraudulent is this campaign by progressive circles who “honor” the subversive strategy of terrorist groups such as Black Lives Matter (BLM) and who have used all kinds of unconstitutional tricks outside the regulatory channels in the last four years to bring down their political adversary – an impeachment, rigged intelligence dossiers and state espionage in the service of a political agenda- and now they are trying to shove a new trial in front of our eyes to “save the homeland” and avoid the advent of a new American civil war.

To back up his arguments, Gingrich cites a poll conducted by McLaughlin & Associates in 17 swing states, in which 60% of respondents consider this a political vendetta by Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic Party elite and a “waste of time,” while 65% point out that in this kind of climate of political tension, which is beginning to permeate society, Democrats are “making things worse and keeping the country divided.”

Nothing is easier for a polling agency at the service of partisan interests than to offer biased information that has nothing to do with reality. That is exactly what the major media outlets such as CNN, NBC or The New York Times have been doing all this time, offering the barometer of their reports, tainted by political bias and unstable methodologies, to favor the interests of the left.

In truth, the polls in the hands of these media have become a caricature of the editorial line of the Democratic Party, an offense to electoral demoscopy, and a dangerous poison against democracy. In other words, the very media in the service of the left contributed to create a dangerous tendency, in which people offered false replies to surveys to avoid being stigmatized.

74 million: the number that terrifies Democrats

However, in the McLaughlin & Associates poll, at least three-quarters of respondents in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin felt that Democratic efforts to try to impeach President Trump before he left office had political undertones to try to prevent him from running again.

Newt Gingrich is convinced in his article that this delusional campaign by the left, distanced from the citizenry, is intended to break the consensuses that have accompanied the success of democratic institutions in the United States.

“Despite the constant left-wing media attacks of the past two weeks, some 48% of all voters polled said they were less likely to support a member of Congress who voted to impeach the president,” Gingrich sentenced.

But the power machine behind Biden-Harris continues to advance like an epidemic in misappropriating all public spaces and any glimmer of freedom. And the specter of Trump has become their favorite alibi for dismantling the constitutional scaffolding.

Given the drift in events, Gingrich has launched the following message referring to voters who do not feel represented by progressive populism: the left “is about to discover how powerful more than 74 million Americans can be.”

For the former 2012 U.S. presidential hopeful, the alarming drop in the stock prices of Twitter and Facebook “are early warnings that arrogant companies that think they can bully the American people may be taking big financial risks.”

The Republican politician gave voice to uncertainties in the business and socio-political world about Sillicon Valley’s totalitarian stance in favor of left-wing thinking. “If conservative social networks emerge, they will financially cripple seemingly invulnerable internet giants, cost their founders a lot of money, and further drive the United States into a tribalized society in which social networks will take it upon themselves to better define who you are.”

Aside from these unconstitutional exercises that sound like political sewage, things should not be resolved in the way the left uses to arbitrarily control power. The United States is not yet a banana republic, despite the fact that this is the model that some politicians want to favor in the name of “unity” or “social justice.”

Gingrich has no doubt that the impressive number of Americans who voted for President Trump, despite four years of smears and hatred from the left, embrace the cultural and social tools that a “tyranny of leftist thugs” has used to subdue them.

Ever since a group of leftist politicians and activists promoted every kind of boycott against ideas, people, projects or companies that supported Trump, the rise of the culture of cancellation and intolerance towards opposing views was officially enthroned in American society.

Gingrich also warns companies that have long lent themselves to the bigotry of progressives not to complain about how badly they might be treated in the future by citizens of the rest of the United States when they act in defense of the constitutional enshrinement of the principle of freedom of competition.

In his view, “when Marriott announced it would discontinue donations to pro-Trump Republicans, it created the risk that 74 million Americans would choose to stay in other hotels and motels. When Nike continues to use slave labor courtesy of China’s Communist dictatorship, it risks millions of Americans looking for an alternative shoe.”

The 1995 Times Magazine “Personality of the Year” has also criticized the sectarian politics of digital platforms such as Google, Amazon and Apple, which, by colluding to impose ideological censorship on their apps, could be digging their own grave in the face of competition.

Republicans: virtues on trial

Newt Gingrich has never been in favor of handing over the constitutional order to the Democratic Party, a plan that the Clintons, Obama, Pelosi and now Biden-Harris will try to materialize every day with their relative bicameral advantage and with the support of media power.

That is why the former Speaker of the House of Representatives warns of the covert coup d’état being prepared from the shadows: “Any tension within the Republican Party will be quickly used by left-wing Democrats to intimidate, isolate, bully and, if necessary, imprison Americans who refuse to accept their ideological reinterpretation of the United States.

Will the Republican Party have enough guts to stand up to the interventionist maneuvers of the Democrats in Congress and the Senate?

The answer to that question has implications not only for the defense and balance of democratic institutions and the rule of law, but for civil society as a whole.

Agreeing with Gingrich – much to the chagrin of strategists on the left – Senate Republicans are a united minority while Senate Democrats in the Senate are a divided majority, with opportunists ready to stab their long-serving colleagues in the back in the name of an ideological crusade that moves in the Party’s shadow.

As Thomas Sowell likes to say, politically, these are virtue-testing junctures, especially for those who still have a soul and haven’t sold it to the devil.
