U.S. President Joe Biden anticipated on Tuesday that his country would be able to return to some normalcy by next Christmas, after receiving enough vaccines for the entire population in the summer.

“By next Christmas I think we will be in a very different situation, God willing, than we are today,” said the President at an event with voters organized by CNN in Milwaukee (Wisconsin).

“A year from now,” Biden added, “I think there will be significantly fewer people who will have to do social distancing, who will have to wear masks; but we don’t know, so I don’t want to promise anything.”

The U.S. leader made this forecast after announcing that vaccines will be available to all people residing in the country by the end of July.

“By the end of July we will have more than 600 million doses, enough to vaccinate all Americans,” Biden assured.

Tuesday’s trip to Wisconsin was his first working trip outside of Washington since taking office nearly a month ago.

Biden is scheduled to travel Thursday to Kalamazoo, Michigan, to tour one of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine manufacturing plants.

About 40 million Americans have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and of those, about 15 million have also received the second dose.

This as the country nears 500,000 deaths from the pandemic after more than 27 million infections.
