‘Where in God’s Name is Our Backbone?’ Biden Blames ‘Gun Lobby’ for Texas Mass Shooting, Vows Action

President Joe Biden addressed a grieving nation after 18-year-old Salvador Ramos is believed to have shot and killed a schoolteacher and 14 children at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday.

Biden implored the nation to pass more gun control laws after the mass shooting and blamed the gun lobby for the atrocity.

“As a nation we have to ask, when in God’s name are we going to stand up to the gun lobby?! When in God’s name will we do what we all know in our gut needs to be done?” Biden said.

The president also lashed out at a purported lack of action to take guns away from law-abiding citizens, while continuing to blast lobbyists for the problem.

“But these mass shootings never happened with the kind of frequency that happened in America?” he also said. “Why? Why are we willing to live with this carnage? Why do we keep letting this happen?”

“Where in God’s name is our backbone?” he went on. “To have the courage to deal with it and stand up to the lobbyists?”

“It’s time to take this pain and turn it into action,” he said.

“I’m sick and tired, we have to act,” he added.

Biden wasn’t alone in exhorting Americans to issue more laws to purportedly address the mass shooting problem.

“There is no such thing as being ‘pro-life’ while supporting laws that let children be shot in their schools, elders in grocery stores, worshippers in their houses of faith, survivors by abusers, or anyone in a crowded place,” AOC said. “It is an idolatry of violence. And it must end.”

“14 kids dead in an elementary school in Texas right now. What are we doing? What are we doing? … We have another Sandy Hook on our hands. What are we doing? … What are we doing? … What are we doing?” — Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) said.

“We have to have the courage to take action and understand the nexus between what makes for reasonable and sensible public policy to ensure something like this never happens again,” Vice President Kamala Harris said.

Rasmussen recently conducted a survey that found that 40% of Likely U.S. voters believed stricter gun control laws ‘would help prevent shootings like the recent one in Buffalo.’ Fifty percent (50%) don’t think stricter gun control would help, while another 10% were not sure.

According to Statista, of the mass shooters who have been categorized by mental health status, the overwhelming majority had “prior signs of mental health problems.”

Editor’s note: The death toll has since risen to 18 children since original publication.
