A new campaign accuses the Joe Biden administration of keeping schools closed due to dark money in conjunction with the largest teachers’ union in the U.S.
According to Americans for Public Trust (APT), Biden and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) secretly worked with the American Federation of Teachers to keep schools closed.
APT says it “is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to restoring trust in government by holding politicians and political groups accountable for corrupt and unethical behavior.”
The campaign, valued at $1 million, began after it came to light that the CDC regularly communicated with the union to issue announcements and regulations related to schools and the COVID- 19 pandemic.
APT’s complaint is framed around times when Biden publicly said it was safe to open schools, but at the same time “secretly” worked to make sure that didn’t happen.
“With Biden, it’s always about dark money,” the ad concludes, directing viewers to DarkMoneyRedered.com, a web portal that charges that after winning the election, Biden “began rewarding these groups” that supported him.
“Joe Biden has become the dark money president to the great detriment of students, parents and teachers alike,” APT outside counsel and former Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt told Fox News.
Laxalt said the emails in APT’s hands “clearly show the CDC politicized science under pressure” from the union, which he said is “both a teachers union and a dark money group.”
Teachers union influenced government decisions
A report by the New York Post revealed that the teachers’ union intervened in the decision making related to the return to face-to-face classes and made suggestions and modifications during the talks between the CDC and the White House.
According to the Post, the union reportedly gave suggestions or guidelines to modify the wording of the guidance that was published in February.
It should be recalled that late last year, Congress passed legislation that included USD$54.3 billion for public schools, a figure on top of the USD$13 billion provided to school districts through the CARES Act in March 2020.
According to Republican Senator Marco Rubio “this is more than the federal government normally spends on education in an entire year,” so for him, the fact that schools wanted to stay closed longer was intended to mean they wanted to receive more funding.
