President Joe Biden will hold a telephone conversation this Friday with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, in which they will discuss Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, among other issues.
The White House informed today of the call in a statement, which did not specify the time at which it will take place or whether the call is generated at the request of Washington or Beijing.
The American government framed the conversation as part of its ongoing efforts to maintain open lines of communication between the two countries.
In addition to the war in Ukraine, another issue the leaders will discuss is how to manage international competition between China and the United States.
