The ongoing immigration crisis is only like to worsen, according to new data. This was quietly admitted by the Joe Biden-Kamala Harris Democratic administration, which is preparing for an unprecedented immigration surge.

A report by The Washington Post revealed that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) expects between 500,000 and 800,000 migrants (made up of family groups) to arrive during the fiscal year 2021, which ends in September. A number that would equal or surpass the record numbers of 2019.

Migration authorities warn of a “next phase of a migration surge” and predict that it could be the largest in the last two decades.

The Post notes that only 10-20% of families are returned to Mexico. The rest are usually released in the United States with a notice to appear in court.

In addition, the administration is allowing almost all unaccompanied minors to remain in the country, so some parents are choosing to send their children alone across the border.

In addition to the increase in the number of migrants and children left to fend for themselves, there are also the deaths of those who begin the journey to reach the United States.

Aaron Reichlin-Melnick, advisor to the American Immigration Council, denounced that “the border will continue to be a place of tragedy” until the immigration system is fixed. He noted that “illegal migration has left more than 8,000 dead in two decades, and that 2021 will be the deadliest in years.”

No control of the migration crisis

This Sunday, March 28, Axios published that the Biden-Harris administration projected just a month ago that by May the number of immigrants would be 13,000, but explains that a new estimate shows that the number would be between 22,000 and 25,000.

According to leaked documents dated last Wednesday, the crisis will be worse and Biden, who has refused to label it as such, is preparing to face an unprecedented immigration surge.

According to Department of Health and Human Services reports accessed by the media outlet, at least 6,000 additional beds are needed for each children’s shelter.

“Under current policies, the government faces an unprecedented number of migrant children crossing the border illegally this fiscal year: from 159,000 to 184,000,” Axios said.

There are not enough agents for the border

David Grantham, national security and anti-terrorism expert on border crises, said in an interview for El American that what is happening is an “unprecedented” migration crisis that represents “a national security problem, a regional security problem because the lax policy encourages the cartels and the people smugglers to advertise their business”.

He denounced that border authorities are “overwhelmed” because “there are not enough agents” and in the face of this they have been forced to release hundreds of migrants.

“We have heard that people are being released because the agents are overwhelmed. It’s not a political decision, as far as we know, but a logistical decision. As more people arrive at the border, agents are forced to perform other tasks. Therefore, some people are released or simply pass through because there are not enough agents,” he said.
