Biden Remains Silent on Immigration Crisis While his Democrat Allies are Shouting for Help

Some sanctuary cities are beginning to receive a small number of migrants who crossed the border illegally, but now that the “crisis” is knocking on their doors, they declare a humanitarian emergency and begin to talk about the issue without Joe Biden lifting a finger to address the situation.

The immigration crisis has worsened, especially in the last year, and yet, from the Democratic Party, politicians and non-politicians looked the other way. Now, with the decision of Republican governors to call attention to trigger a response from Joe Biden, the issue is gaining relevance without a reaction from the federal government.

Recently, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis joined Greg Abbott in supporting the transfer of illegal immigrants to cities where they are supposed to be well received. In this first opportunity, he sent some 50 migrants, mostly Venezuelans, to Martha’s Vineyard, an island in Massachusetts.

Massachusetts Democrats, including representatives from Martha’s Vineyard, condemned the governor for using illegal immigrants as “political pawns.” Later, the local Chamber of Commerce issued a statement calling the situation a “humanitarian crisis.”

Surprisingly, sanctuary cities are generating so much “alarmism” if they have publicly stated that these cities would be willing and able to receive illegal migrants. Still, it is also surprising that they are declaring a “crisis” and “emergency” for receiving a few illegal migrants while Texas, which is on the border, receives at least 4,000 migrants per day and some 12,000 per month.

But there is a point that has not been addressed and an even more problematic approach: Joe Biden does not even listen to his political allies in the Democratic Party. They declare a crisis without the federal government lifting a finger to address the situation.

Three days ago, Vice President Kamala Harris said publicly that the border “is secure” and admitted in an interview that “the immigration system is broken and needs to be fixed.

Harris has not explained what the Democratic administration plans to do to address what is happening at the border, nor has she explained what she will do to “fix” the immigration system, nor has she made it clear whether or not she will listen to her Democratic allies who are today pleading for federal help for what they have called a “crisis.”

On the one hand, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser has repeatedly called for the deployment of the National Guard while describing the influx of immigrants as a “humanitarian crisis”; on the other hand, DC Council member Brianne Nadeau blamed the governors of Texas and Arizona for creating “the crisis” and claimed they turned DC into a border city.

Joe Biden isn’t listening to his Democratic allies either

But now that DC is receiving a tiny number of illegal migrants, Democratic officials are holding press conferences to ask for help and even declaring a “public emergency”; for the first time, they agree with Abbott: the federal government has not responded to the massive influx of migrants.

“The governors of Texas and Arizona have created this crisis. And, the federal government has not stepped up to assist the District of Columbia,” Nadeau said to the press.

“Regardless of the federal response –which I think has been lacking in some respects– that the District of Columbia would continue to work with partners to advance what we need and ensure our systems in D.C. are not broken by a crisis that is certainly not of our making,” Bowser added when declaring an emergency on the city.

Eric Adams, for his part, has also called for federal help. “We just need help. We need help,” he said in early August.

As Republican governors send migrants to Biden’s attention, there is evidence of how the president is ignoring the requests of his own allies. This strategy could backfire badly because it has already become clear that Democratic Party activists are beginning to migrate to the GOP out of concern over the border crisis, which seems to be a never-ending story.

Meanwhile, Biden prefers to remain silent in the face of the crisis that his own allies are crying out to him, he prefers not to help to his own country; he decided to ignore the situation at the border rather than admit that Greg Abbott and Ron DeSantis have always been right.
