The immigration crisis in the U.S. continues to exacerbate, and Biden administration officials have chosen to deny the problem that is spreading across the southern border. On the one hand, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris refuse to visit the area and address the situation; on the other hand, Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas denies and flat out lies about the immigration policy that the administration of which he is a part has taken on.

Mayorkas stated that the border “is secure but closed.”

The secretary said that “the message is clear: don’t come.” Mayorkas stated that they are expelling families and individuals. He went on to say that this is not the time for immigrants to arrive, explaining that the road is dangerous and that appropriate ways are being constructed right now to address the situation of vulnerable children.

Martha Raddatz of ABC News asked the secretary why they had not prepared for the largest immigration wave in twenty years, to which Mayorkas responded that they will solve the problem and that they have a plan that they are executing. But, are the official’s words real?

The border is open, despite what Mayorkas says

According to a report by Axios, using leaked data from the Department of Homeland Security, what the secretary claims is far from the facts.

The data obtained reveals that an average of a very low 13% of the nearly 13,000 migrants who attempted to cross the U.S.-Mexico border was returned to Mexico between March 14 and March 21 using the public health order.

This means that 87% of those who crossed the border at this time are currently on U.S. soil, proving that in reality, the border is not closed, nor is it being secured in accordance with the sanitary closure that was decreed due to the pandemic.

Other reports inform that Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley sector of Texas released some 150 migrants without giving them a hearing date.

The lack of control, the improvisation, the lack of law enforcement, are signs of how the Biden administration is failing to properly deal with these waves of migration coming to the United States. In addition to this, Mexico has not given appropriate help to resolve this situation.
