U.S. President Joe Biden finished the press conference following the suicide bombing attributed to ISIS at the Kabul airport that left hundreds wounded and, so far, 12 Marines dead. The explosions left at least 60 victims, including children. “Our hearts ache,” Biden said of the bombings, then asserted that he will hunt down the ISIS terrorists: “We will not forgive, we will not forget. We will hunt you down and make you pay.”

The president also noted that they will complete the evacuation of troops, American citizens and Afghan civilians who need to leave the country. “We will not be deterred by terrorists. We will not let them stop our nation. We will continue the evacuation,” Biden said. “I have also ordered commanders to develop operational plans to strike ISIS-K leadership and facilities. We will respond with force and precision at the place which is in the moment of our choosing.”

“Here’s what you must know: These ISIS terrorists will not win. We will rescue the Americans, we will get our Afghan allies out, and our mission will go on. America will not be intimidated, and I have the utmost confidence in our brave service members who continue to execute this mission with courage and honor to save lives, and get Americans, our partners, and our Afghan allies out of Afghanistan,” the president remarked.

The president adopted a low, subdued tone during the press conference, looking crestfallen and empathetic. At one point, he took partial responsibility for what happened in Afghanistan, “I bear responsibility for fundamentally all that has happened.”

Later, however, he wanted to share the blame with former President Donald Trump: “The former president made a deal with the Taliban to get all American forces out of Afghanistan. In return, he was given the commitment that the Taliban would attack others but not attack any American forces. There were no attacks on Americans because of President Trump’s commitment. Imagine where we would be if I indicated on May 1 that I was going to negotiate the evacuation date. I had only one alternative: send thousands of troops to into Afghanistan to fight a war we had already won.”

The president commented, quoting the Pentagon, that “There is no evidence of any agreement between the Taliban and ISIS” and also confirmed that American officials gave the Taliban information about American citizens and Afghan allies to allegedly help them get to the airport.

Biden’s “We do not forgive” did not look good to the public opinion

Although Biden said phrases that on paper may seem harsh, such as hunting down terrorists, his press conference was quite criticized because it seemed weak in several passages. There was one image in particular that quickly went viral on social networks, in which the president is seen cowering, with his head down and his hands clasped in front of his chest after Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked him a question about his responsibility in relation to the fateful retreat. At that point, Biden was overwhelmed.

In another controversial moment, the president stated that he “was instructed to call on” specific journalists to ask questions, which also generated criticism in social networks.

“Joe Biden is not capable. He is not competent,” tweeted Ben Shapiro, Editor Emeritus of the Daily Wire, the moment the interview ended. “If you are an enemy of America watching that Joe Biden press conference, you are drooling over American weakness like Homer Simpson over a hamburger,” Shapiro wrote in another tweet.

“Boy, does Biden look and sound frail right now. Not good,” said Mark Hemingway, senior writer at Real Clear.

Eli Lake, a columnist at Bloomberg, questioned some of the president’s talk about making terrorists pay: “I would like to believe Biden when he says ISIS-K will pay for their terrorism. But why would anyone? We will soon be eyeless and earless in Afghanistan. The dirtbags know this too. This was Biden’s choice and this is the first of many repercussions of that choice.”
