European soccer superstar and current Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo signed an exclusive contract with cryptocurrency exchange platform Binance with the aim of introducing sports fans to the Web3 non-fungible token (NFT) ecosystem.
In a statement sent to the Cointelegraph portal, the platform clarified that the contract with Ronaldo includes the creation of an exclusive NFT collection to be sold on Binance, the first edition of which will be released this year.
Binance CEO and founder Changpeng Zhao said the soccer player has “transcended sport to become an icon in multiple industries,” and that his “authenticity, talent and charity work” have led him to amass one of the “most dedicated” soccer fans.
The platform owner says he is excited to give the soccer player’s fans an “exclusive opportunity” to “connect with Ronaldo” through his new NFT collection.
The sportsman said he is confident that his fans will enjoy the experience. “My relationship with the fans is very important to me, so the idea of bringing unprecedented experiences and access through this NFT platform is something that I wanted to be a part of,” Ronaldo said.
