According to figures released by Civiqs, support for the far-left Black Lives Matter movement dropped dramatically over the course of 2020.
Black Lives Matter, founded in 2013, has spearheaded several protests over the past few years with a specific modus operandi: vandalism and subversion. However, it was last year, after the death of George Floyd, when their actions took a darker tinge hand in hand with Antifa.
When the riots began in 2020, the popularity of Black Lives Matter had reached an unprecedented peak; to the point where it was supported by part of the Republican Party. Once the protests turned violent and turned against the population itself, the popularity that once reached the clouds was buried.
Civiqs figures show that from the moment Trump threatened to deploy the U.S. Navy and protests reached 140 cities (summer of last year), Black Lives Matter’s popularity began to plummet radically, even below where it was when Breonna Taylor died.
The New York Times writes that the country’s racial reckoning seemed to be on track, but in reality fizzled like steam once the protests became an affront to private property and the safety of Americans.
GOP support for the movement also dropped and is currently in negative numbers. Republicans, who always emphasize in their ideology and discourse the ironclad protection of private property, law and order, withdrew support once the riots bordered on subversion and positioned themselves against party fundamentals.
Civiqs also shows that white Americans are the least supportive of Black Lives Matter since 2020. While whites hit negative numbers, what is troubling for the movement is that even minorities are also massively withdrawing their support. Hispanic support, for example, plummeted to nearly 0 points, and African American support is also on a relatively steady decline.
The popularity of Black Lives Matter was fleeting and while the population came to accept the racial discussion as a national issue, it was the looting, rioting, outright subversion, and racism that Black Lives Matter came to profess that caused that optimal scenario to be radically reversed for them.
