Secretary of State Antony Blinken is traveling to the Middle East to meet with representatives of Israel and Palestine to mediate in the conflict unleashed in the area.

The top diplomat assured Monday on his Twitter account that he is traveling to “Jerusalem, Ramallah, Cairo and Amman to meet with the parties to support their efforts to solidify a ceasefire.”

“The United States has engaged in intensive diplomacy to bring an end to the hostilities and reduce tensions,” he adds in his message, in which he indicates that he is making the trip at the request of the president, Joe Biden.

Following the truce that began on Friday between the two sides, it was assumed that Secretary of State Antony Blinken would travel to the region to act as mediator, although the date of the trip had not been specified until now.
