The President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, on Monday criticized Facebook’s censorship of internet users who intend to send him photos of alleged irregularities in fuel taxes.

“We must let the people free themselves, have freedom,” said Bolsonaro. “If someone extrapolates something, logically, there is [the Ministry of] Justice to appeal to.”

“Now, Facebook is blocking me as well as the population. It is unbelievable that this can prevail in Brazil. And there is no reaction from the media,” he added in reference to the blocking by this social network of the publication of photographs on political pages and profiles.

The Brazilian leader asked last week for people to send photos of tax invoices of what they pay for fuel in the states to dig deeper in the investigations of possible double taxation charged by states and municipalities on gasoline, diesel and ethanol.

“To the critics: stay calm, you are always worried about something. But there are still very heavy clouds over fuel on the horizon and we are going to solve this problem,” Bolsonaro said.

According to the head of state, “the most powerful man in the world (alluding to former U.S. President Donald Trump) was shot down over there in the U.S.by the social networks.”

“I am not going to discuss the U.S. election, but I was blocked, I was censored,” he stressed.
