On this week’s episode of Candace, Owens considers LBJ’s speech to students at Howard University, Biden’s Build Back Better plan, Wilson’s idea to tax the rich, and asks if we’re freer and better off for it – what could possibly go right with the welfarizing of America?
The day LBJ spoke to Howard students, Candace explains, is the day White Americans were told they had to accept responsibility for Black Americans, and Black Americans were told they had no responsibility. Black Americans were “free and enslaved” in one speech. After centuries of injustice, the nation owed them a welfare state. Freedom wasn’t enough. Black Americans are poorer today than they were in the ’70s, even though we’ve spent $22 trillion on social welfare.
Now, Biden wants to spend an additional $3.5 trillion, while telling us Build Back Better actually costs $0. Biden and progressives will tell us it’s all free, free, free, but the reality is they plan to pay for it by taxing the rich who “aren’t paying their fair share.” The top 10% of earners pay 71% of income taxes.
Wilson thought taxing the wealthy would fix the economy but instead the wealthy just stopped spending, which led to less tax revenue for the government, fewer jobs, and less income for the poor.
The truth of the matter is the economy gets rolling when tax rates are cut for the rich because they’re more inclined to spend and everyone is subsequently better off. The poor and the government get richer.
