The candidate for the Presidency of Peru, Pedro Castillo, represents a communist party made up of members who were allegedly financed by Chavismo in Venezuela and by terrorist organizations in the region.

The Peru Libre party, represented by the drawing of a pencil and the populist slogan “No more poor people in a rich country!” The political organization calls itself anti-neoliberal and anti-imperialist regarding the United States.

The latest poll published this Friday, May 7, shows that presidential candidate Pedro Castillo (Peru Libre) obtains 41 % of the voting intention, while candidate Keiko Fujimori (Fuerza Popular) reaches 36 %.

The pencil party has in its leadership Vladimir Cerrón, who is the general secretary; Pedro Castillo, presidential candidate; and congressional candidate Guillermo Bermejo, linked to terrorist organizations in the region.

Castillo is linked to MOVADEF, the political branch of Sendero Luminoso, a subversive and terrorist organization in Peru. In fact, Guillermo Bermejo has an open trial against him, he is accused of “crime against public tranquility in the modality of terrorism” for allegedly having been part of Sendero Luminoso.

The second round of elections is approaching with the possibility of Peru becoming the “next Venezuela.” Members of the Peru Libre party have left serious evidence that they admire what is happening in the Caribbean nation and that they are willing to replicate it. A situation that, if it happens, could drive the exodus of Peruvians as it happened with the regime of Nicolás Maduro.

Castillo’s government plan refers to nationalizing sectors of the economy, changing the Peruvian Constitution, and not respecting freedom of the press; but in addition, its members such as Vice-Presidential candidate Dina Boluarte has proudly admitted her affinity for socialism.

Vladimir Cerrón: the man linked to communism

Cerrón is the secretary general of Perú Libre; his affinity for socialism, communism, and the left arises in the ’90s when he studied in Havana, Cuba.

He was governor of Junín in Peru and developed the “Family Doctor” program inspired by the Castro health system. The initiative is the subject of a tax investigation for embezzlement.

Cerrón has admitted funding from castrismo to the point that in 2011 he traveled to Cuba and when consulted about the expenses, he said that it had been an invitation from the then Cuban ambassador to Peru, Luis Delfín Pérez Osorio.

In 2018 he traveled again and participated in the meeting of the Sao Paulo Forum in Havana where he coincided with Nicolás Maduro, Evo Morales, Miguel Diaz Canel, Raúl Castro and Martín Torrijos.

But the closeness to Venezuela and his affinity for the regime of Nicolás Maduro is evident. Cerrón said in October 2020, in the midst of a tribute to “Che” Guevara, that “the left has to learn to stay in power and that is what Venezuela has done”.

In 2019 he traveled to Venezuela to participate in the “Latin American Meeting of Local Governments and Democracy;” there he questioned the US government and criticized its alleged “interventionist policies towards America.”

Cerrón even acknowledged that he received financing from Maduro when he affirmed that it was the tyranny who paid for his trip to Venezuela.

Guillermo Bermejo: virtual congressman investigated as a terrorist

Bermejo is an elected congressman of Perú Libre and lived in exile in Venezuela thanks to the regime of Nicolás Maduro during 2015 and 2017. This, after being charged for the crime of terrorism.

According to the investigations, the now congressman held meetings with leaders of the criminal and terrorist organization Sendero Luminoso.

According to the investigations, an effective collaborator declared before the Peruvian Public Prosecutor’s Office that he knew that Guillermo Bermejo received the sum of US$1,000 to travel to Venezuela to contact groups such as the FARC.

While enjoying political asylum in Venezuela, Bermejo participated in political demonstrations in favor of Chavismo and dedicated time to defend the ideas of the “Socialist Revolution.”
