The number of drugs and humans trafficked by Mexican cartels continues to increase simultaneously with the number of undocumented immigrants attempting to enter the United States through its southern border.

Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott said that the border is becoming a war scenario with more “aggressive” Mexican cartels preparing to shoot national guard soldiers on the southern border.

“I must tell you that something is happening, that it is getting worse and that the cartels are becoming even more aggressive on the Mexican side of the border. They are starting to open fire on the National Guard that secure the border of Texas, “Abbott told Fox News.

Abbott explained that “the hottest spot” on the border is Roma, the area where cartels on the Mexican side are shooting.

It’s not the first time that statements show how the cartels are strengthening with this wave of migration to the United States.

In April, Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council, said that “no one has done more to enrich organized crime than President Biden” with his open border policies.

DHS officials told Fox News that suspected Mexican cartel members involved in human trafficking carry tactical equipment and are armed with AK-47s while mocking National Guard soldiers across the Rio Grande.

“We often hear that the cartels are always working at the border, but very rarely do we see them in an image holding their guns in the middle of daylight,” Bill Melugin, a specialist in the migration, said on the Guy Benson Show.

Independent reporter Jorge Ventura also denounced on October 15 that while covering the border crisis, he found “an armed human smuggler who was paid by a migrant.” The criminal threatened him and then “ran back to the border wall.”

Migration crisis worsens, and Mexican cartels grow stronger

As Mexican cartels begin to grow stronger, border patrol agents are struggling to cope with the massive influx of illegal migrants.

Recently, leaked documents revealed the release of more than 160,000 illegal immigrants on U.S. territory since March 2021. According to Fox News, thousands of migrants were released with little or no supervision by the authorities.

Meanwhile, the Customs and Border Protection Office (CBP) is still not reporting the number of arrests of illegal migrants for September. Usually, the official information is known on the first days of each month; however, by the time of this publication, the number is still unknown.

In August the CBP announced that there were 208,887 arrests of migrants, representing an increase of 317% over the same period in 2020.
