Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas emerged from the concealed chambers of the United States’ highest court to deliver a rare public message to those who would compromise America’s institutions.
Thomas, speaking at the 11th Circuit judicial conference in Atlanta this week, directed his message towards those who seek to ‘bully’ the court — a reference to those who leaked a draft opinion that a SCOTUS majority aims to overturn landmark abortion decisions.
“We can’t be an institution that can be bullied into giving you just the outcomes you want. The events from earlier this week are a symptom of that,” Thomas said.
Earlier this week, far-left groups published the private addresses of Supreme Court Justices’ homes in order to encourage protesters to protest there. Attempting to pressure a U.S. court into rendering a specific decision is illegal.
“We are becoming addicted to wanting particular outcomes, not living with the outcomes we don’t like,” he also remarked, while expressing there is a “different attitude of the young,” who may not show governmental institutions the same respect as previous generations.
“It bodes ill for a free society,” he added.
Thomas was the second justice this week who spoke out on the Supreme Court leak, in addition to Chief Justice Roberts.
“A leak of this stature is absolutely appalling,” Roberts said. “If the person behind it thinks that it will affect our work, that’s just foolish.”
Clarence Thomas is the most senior justice. It is in his discretion to decide who writes the majority opinion, should Chief Justice John Roberts be in the minority on a case.
After the unprecedented leak that indicated that Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey are about to be struck down, protesters nearly instantly appeared at the Supreme Court building to condemn the forthcoming majority opinion.
Justice Samuel Alito authored the withering preliminary decision on behalf of the prospective majority — a sneak preview of a ruling that is set to come six or even eight weeks from now. The 5-3 ruling, remarkably absent the stamp of imprimatur from nominal Chief Justice John Roberts, would come from conservative justices who are inured to the radical left’s outcry: Alito, Thomas, Barrett, Kavanaugh, and Gorsuch.
In the interest of security, the Supreme Court’s police officers erected barricades around the court to prevent the protest from developing into an ‘insurrection’ over the decision.
The security team tasked to protect the SCOTUS thus believes it is necessary to safeguard the court from a potential riot that could spill over into an ‘insurrection.’ All over a decision that essentially hand the power to decide abortion laws back to the states, where it belongs.
