Just hours after being fired, Chris Cuomo launched a public dispute with CNN after claiming that his former ally, CNN President Jeff Zucker, was his accomplice. Now, both are preparing to sue in court.

A spokesman for Chris Cuomo told the Wall Street Journal that Zucker was widely aware of the details of the anchor’s support for his brother Andrew.

“They were widely known to be extremely close and in regular contact, including about the details of Mr. Cuomo’s support for his brother (…) There were no secrets about this, as other individuals besides Mr. Cuomo can attest,” the spokesman added.

The statements of Cuomo’s spokesman come after CNN finally decided to fire him for using his journalistic sources to provide privileged information to Andrew Cuomo and his team.

Upon the admission, CNN reacted by accusing Chris Cuomo of peddling “alleged lies.”

“He has made a number of accusations that are patently false,” CNN told the WSJ. “This reinforces why he was terminated for violating our standards and practices, as well as his lack of candor,” it notes.

“If Jeff had known all along, Chris would have been fired earlier, not suspended (..) He lied to us,” the source sentenced.

The current dispute between the two is surprising since CNN defended Chris Cuomo from the scandals in which he was involved; and now, on the contrary, not only accuses him of lying but writes long texts to criticize Chris Cuomo for what he did.

“The documents — released by New York Attorney General Letitia James after an investigation into the governor — showed that Chris Cuomo, while working as one of CNN’s top anchors, also effectively worked as an unpaid aide to the governor,” notes a scathing CNN article against its star anchor.

A New York Post report revealed Monday, Dec. 6, that CNN and Chris Cuomo are preparing for a legal battle in which the anchor expects a $6 million annual settlement to be honored and the news network refuses to pay “a penny.”

According to The Post Cuomo is hiring lawyers and is preparing to file a lawsuit against CNN “if it doesn’t honor the remainder of the four-year contract he signed last year.”

Another source said, “CNN has a standard morality clause in their contract that says if the employee does anything of disrepute, they can be immediately fired.”
