The presidential elections in Colombia are approaching and it is necessary for the whole world to be clear that what will be decided on Sunday June 19 is not left or right, but democracy or the establishment of a regime that will be very difficult to remove from power. Gustavo Petro has said it in every possible way; he has assured that his “country project” cannot be carried out in only four years, and that the first thing he would do upon reaching the presidency is to govern with a state of emergency, that is, bypassing the Congress to govern by decree.

Added to that, what we have seen in these last days of the presidential race is the union of all criminals, of assorted criminals, to Gustavo Petro’s campaign. A video has been made public in which one of his trusted men, Roy Barreras, acknowledges that they have gone to prisons to talk to extraditable persons to offer them non-extradition. Petro is recalling the years in which his guerrilla made deals with drug traffickers in exchange for money and power. This week, indigenous leader Jesus Montano was found dead after denouncing that the FARC is threatening people to vote for Petro. Meanwhile, urban terrorists of “la Primera Linea” have threatened to set the country on fire if the socialist does not win.

Drug traffickers about to be extradited, FARC and urban terrorists are some of the supporters Petro has. The outlook for this weekend is very complicated because these people are willing to do anything and they have a lot at stake in these elections. Colombians’ fears range from electoral fraud to a violent takeover if Petro lose the elections. Colombians and the whole world must be attentive to what happens in Colombia this June 19, because if Petro becomes president what will happen will be a blurring of the border between Colombia and Venezuela. The two countries will be united, ruled by criminality and narco-socialism. The future of the region will be decided in Colombia this weekend
