The Democratic Governor of Connecticut, Ned Lamont, has announced that the state will start controlled reopening of businesses, starting on March 19.

In an official statement, Governor Lamont said that opening restrictions of restaurants, retail stores, libraries, gym museums, offices and places of worship will be completely lifted. The governor also said the limit for early child room classrooms will increase from 16 to 20, starting on March 29.

Outdoor amusement parks will be able to open, “Outdoor event venues may increase to 50% capacity, with a limit of 10,000 people,” indoor theaters will continue to have a 50% attendance limit, and indoor stadiums may open at 10% capacity.

The release also recommends for the planning of events for next summer, such as camps and festivals.

The state will maintain the use of facemasks, social distancing and hygiene measures as preventative measures against the coronavirus.

“Please continue to wear face coverings in public and when around other people outside of your households, maintain social distancing, and keep washing your hands and cleaning surfaces. Connecticut has made tremendous strides to combat this pandemic, and we don’t want to lose the progress that we’ve made,” Lamont said.

Connecticut is the third state to ease pandemic restrictions this week, after Texas and Mississippi.
