Florida: Republican Cuban Americans want Trump to Run in 2024, Poll Shows

Leer en Español

A new Florida International University poll states that 37% of Cuban Americans and 59% of Republican Cuban Americans surveyed would like to see former President Donald Trump back on the ballot.

According to the study, the Republican Party remains the party of choice among voters of Cuban descent in South Florida, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and U.S. Senator Marco Rubio are expected to receive about 64% of their vote in the November midterms.

“Republicans continue to hold a slight majority among registered Cuban-American voters and are generating new support from newcomers to the island. Fifty-four percent of registered voters who arrived since 2015 say they are registered Republicans,” explained FIU.

The concern of Cuban-Americans

According to the survey, the economy, health care, and immigration are the issues that most concern Cuban Americans, with immigration appearing in the top three for the first time since the survey began in 1991.

“The results of this year’s FIU Cuba Survey suggest the need for the Biden Administration to chart a clear and calibrated course between Obama-era engagement policies and Trump-era isolationist policies toward Cuba,” said Jorge Duany, director of the Cuba Research Institute.
