Problems appear to keep on mounting for NY Governor Andrew Cuomo. The governor’s top legal advisor, Kumiki Gibson, has resigned from his administration, amid growing sexual harassment allegations against the governor.

“It has been an honor and privilege to work for the Governor and the people of the State of New York. I remain deeply impressed with the talent and dedication of my legal team and will forever be grateful for having the opportunity to serve New Yorkers,” Gibson said in a statement.

The lawyer is the latest member of the Cuomo administration to leave, after the resignations of press secretary Caitlin Girourd, health policy adviser Erin Hammond and COVID-19 Response Task Force aid Gareth Rhodes.

While none of them have claimed that the resignation is because of the scandals surrounding the governor, the truth is that Cuomo must deal with mass resignations amid constant calls for him to step down from office.

Lawmaker Andrea Stewart-Cousins issued a statement calling on Cuomo to resign, while New York Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie followed suit.

“The time has come for the governor to seriously consider whether he can effectively meet the needs of the people of New York,” Heastie said.

According to Fox News, a total of 37 Assembly and state Senate lawmakers want the governor to resign; while 10 have already called for impeachment.

However, this Sunday, Cuomo reiterated that he is not resigning and attacked politicians who have called for his resignation in recent days.

“I’m not going to resign over allegations,” the governor said after two other women who worked with him in the past accused him of inappropriate conduct. There are now five total allegations, four of them in the workplace.

Cuomo is embroiled in serious scandals over allegations of sexual harassment, and he is also facing a federal investigation for premeditatedly lying about the true number of elderly deaths-. His intention, according to his aide Melissa DeRosa, was to hide the impact that one of his executive orders caused in the state’s nursing homes.
