Republicans on the House Oversight Committee requested in a letter that Carolyn Maloney, Democratic Chairwoman of the House of Representatives, summoned New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to explain the nursing home scandal.

According to a letter obtained by Fox News, Republicans on the panel allege that Cuomo intentionally “engaged in a cover-up that affects those most vulnerable to COVID-19.”

“We owe it to the thousands of families who lost loved ones due to Governor Cuomo’s alleged recklessness,” it continues.

They further requested that Maloney subpoena any and all “documents, information and communications previously requested by the Republican Select Subcommittee.”

“The governor has a documented history of misleading the public about his March 25 lethal order, including orchestrating a cover-up to conceal the truth from the New York State Legislature, the U.S. Congress, and possibly the U.S. Department of Justice.”

A month ago New York Attorney General Letitia James released a report concluding that the state had failed to account for thousands of COVID-19 deaths of geriatric residents.
