Cancel culture has claimed a new victim: David Schoen, President Donald Trump’s lawyer in the second impeachment trial against him.

The veteran Alabama lawyer told the New York Post that an offer to teach a civil rights class at a law school was rescinded after he stepped in to defend Trump.

While David Schoen did not identify the law school in question, he did mention that “when this came up, I contacted the school to ask if this would be an impediment. I was told that yes, it would be, that some faculty and students would be uncomfortable having me on campus if I was getting involved in the case.”

In this regard, Schoen asserted that this the cultural phenomenon, which involves publicly shaming a person for what may be perceived as offensive ideology, statements or behavior, has become more “radicalism than liberalism.”

“What has changed is the concept of liberalism. You know, liberalism used to favor the marketplace of ideas. They would want to hear all sides of the story. Everybody has something to bring to the table. Not anymore,” he said.

Schoen, who has 36 years of legal experience and says he loves being in the classroom, called the action a “sad commentary.”
