The National Medicines Authority in Portugal, Infarmed, launched an investigation to clarify whether a six-year-old child may have died as a result of a reaction after being vaccinated against covid.

The child, who died last Sunday at the Santa Maria Hospital in Lisbon, had tested positive for covid and had been inoculated with a dose of the vaccine.

At the moment, the autopsy and the possible analyses to be performed by Infarmed are awaited.

The objective is to find the possible causes of death, so they will have to analyze all the child’s clinical information.

The minor was admitted to the center last Saturday in cardiorespiratory arrest, according to the Lisbon hospital.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, three children between 0 and 9 years of age have died in Portugal as a result of covid, according to the Directorate General of Health (DGS).
