Fourth of July Weekend: 150 Dead and Over 400 Shootings, Amid Increasing Violence in the U.S.

Fourth of July weekend ended with at least 150 people killed in more than 400 shootings across the country. This was revealed by a track carried out by “Gun Violence Archive“.

Fox News detailed that several of the victims were teenagers and children. The youngest victims injured in shooting incidents included a 13-year-old boy who was shot in the left hand, a 12-year-old girl who remains in critical condition, and a 6-year-old girl who was shot in the hand.

Two Chicago police officers were shot while dispersing a large crowd on Monday morning, said Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown. He added that the injured officers will be okay.

4th of July weekend, a sign of growing violence across the country

Crime has been on the rise in the country. Just two weeks ago, the Department of Justice acknowledged a “staggering” increase in violent crime. It also emphasized that they are working to address the situation.

For his part, Attorney General Merrick Garland said through a statement sent to Fox that: “Working with our local partners to address violent crime is one of the most important responsibilities of the Department of Justice.
