When Democrats Disrespect Democracy, Republicans Lose the Republic

When Hillary Clinton lost the executive chair by a vote of the states in 2016 and Republican nominee Donald Trump became president, Democrats made calls to abolish the Electoral College and alter the election format used in the republic since long before the current members of the leftist party were born.

When Donald Trump nominated a female justice for the Supreme Court following the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the Democrats launched a campaign to try to prevent the appointment of Amy Coney Barret, and then, after their failed attempt, upon regaining control of both houses and the presidency, have been pushing a movement to pack the Supreme Court and increase the number of judges for the purpose of creating a progressive majority on the highest court and politicizing the judiciary.

Despite their majority in both Houses of Congress, they are prevented from legislating and passing radical bills, since even a select and small minority of their own party, led by Senator Joe Manchin, has put a brake on the extremism of some of their colleagues, Bernie Sanders and company are calling for eliminating the filibuster, one of the biggest counterweights that currently exists in Washington so that minorities cannot be crushed by the party in power.

Over the last decade, the Democratic Party has taken a path that has left the political center empty in order to cuddle up to the extreme left; the Harris, Sanders, and Biden himself of today, have buried the Kennedys of yesterday. In fact, if JFK were alive today, he would surely be trashed and branded as a fascist by American progressives.

Sadly, it seems that the American Republic is falling apart. In Washington, there are no longer two parties trying to resolve their differences through politics, but one party trying to exterminate the other, and the second just trying to survive. It is not only the fillibuster and Court-packing, but the First and Second Amendments to the Constitution are also increasingly under threat, and to this must be added the attempts to substantially modify the electoral laws and to eliminate as much as possible the controls that could allow the organization of truly free and transparent voting.

The Democrats today not only govern in Washington, but also pull the strings in Silicon Valley and manage the entire flow of information at will; during the last year, substantial information was blocked, such as the scandals of the son of the current president and his ties with China and Ukraine, which could have changed the course of the last elections; also numerous Republican candidates, conservative citizens, and even the then president himself – Donald Trump – was censored by the main social networks, silencing half of the country that does not agree with the new progressive designs.

If the present is not already dark and discouraging enough, now even the past is under scrutiny: the projects launched from the extreme left to change the history of the United States are also persistent. Critical race theory, among other ideological pamphlets, have been introduced in the classrooms of the youngest children in the country. Today, according to the narrative of progressivism, America has been the most unjust and oppressive nation of the last century, and therefore there is no choice but to punish the guilty, smash capitalism and impose a new Marxist state where economic calculation is not important and money will simply be printed to the hilt to finance all those who do not wish to work, while punishing with taxes the few who produce.

Unfortunately, the most terrible thing about this situation is that no matter which side is the winner, the United States has fallen into a downward spiral, if tomorrow the Republicans somehow manage to regain power after the Democratic attempts to atone for them, they will probably try to do the same as their opponents are doing today. Then it will be evident that the institutions have been destroyed and now there are only two divided, irreconcilable sides, which will fight to crush the other, and not to live with each other.

The unjustifiable events of January 6 at the Capitol by Trump supporters are the thermometer of a society that no longer finds an answer to its requests through politics and resorts to insurrection against institutions. Although these events were not accompanied at all by the Republican Party, it is a demonstration that on both sides extremism and hatred towards members of the other tendency is being harvested.

The republic devised by the Founding Fathers is in danger

What is happening today in the United States is of great concern to all citizens of the world who want and believe in a free world. America has been for decades the pillar of democratic resistance and, with its mistakes and successes, it has been the nation that has managed to converge hundreds of cultures and hundreds of millions of people in the same territory and maintain a solid republic, one that today is over two hundred years old and today’s ungrateful politicians threaten to destroy.

The United States is still the most powerful nation on the planet precisely because it has respected and followed the founding principles bequeathed by the great heroes of independence and the forgers of this great republic; every American should consider it an insult that some of today’s politicians and media want to stain the name of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson and company, to implement a new system in the country that has already proven repeatedly in the past to be the cyanide of any society.

Today’s Democrats have forgotten about democracy. One can only hope that the spirit of their ancestors will enlighten a sector of the party, or that the Republicans can exalt the democratic values that have characterized the capital of the free world.
