Members of the House of Representatives of the Democratic Party already have a list of legislative objectives to meet with a Senate in their favor. These are a series of wishes from the left that could become a reality with the majority they achieved in Congress after the elections in Georgia.
While the United States was waiting for the results of the elections, Rep. Chris Pappas published a list that Fox News called a “wish list of the left”; popular bills that until recently were blocked by the Republican majority.
“Changing the Senate would be huge to get votes on popular bills blocked by Mitch McConnell,” Pappas tweeted.
The Democrat listed what the priorities would be: from $2,000 checks, the “equality bill,” the Dream Act, state and local funding; and climate action.
The representative blamed Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell for hindering efforts to achieve these goals, but if the Republicans lose their majority, they will no longer have the power they currently wield.
Democrats have called for new voting rights legislation since the Supreme Court struck down parts of the Act that deal with federal oversight in certain jurisdictions.
In 2019, the House passed a bill that would have restored what the Supreme Court had eliminated but the Republican-majority Senate did not vote on it.
More recently, McConnell blocked a vote on $2,000 stimulus checks for Americans, despite President Trump urging lawmakers to make them a reality.
Democrats will greenlight Biden’s agenda
Biden’s transition agenda is full of plans to increase state control, a situation that could become a reality if the Democrats win a majority in the Senate.
Biden-Harris has already released their proposals, and one of the things that is most concerning is that they would use the Defense Production Act to address the COVID-19 pandemic issue. This law allows the Federal Government to take control of private industries.
Another concern is that as part of the emergency economic recovery, Biden would implement a $15 minimum hourly wage, a provision that could establish domestic price controls and undermine the free market.
An article published by journalist Brad Polumbo for FEE mentions a study by four economists from Stanford University, which analyzed Biden’s proposals. It concludes that government interventions would distort labor incentives, lower productivity and kill jobs.
“The Democrats’ imminent socialist assault on our nation will make President Obama’s first two years in office look moderate,” Republican Senator Marco Rubio has denounced the possibility that the Democrats will take control of Congress.
If the Democrats succeed in Georgia’s runoff election on Tuesday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer will have the power to enact the socialist agenda of the radical left that has become mainstream in today’s Democratic Party.Senador Marco Rubio.
The Republican senator foresees that with a Democrat Senate, socialist initiatives like the “Green New Deal, socialized medicine, European-style taxes on U.S. industry and workers, radical regulations that will harm small businesses, and capitulation to the Chinese Communist Party will be on the agenda,” he said.
