Danish officials investigating the leak in the Nord Stream pipeline confirmed that it was intentional and that the cause was “powerful explosions.”

Although investigators are not yet reporting who is responsible for the disaster, they did report that “strong explosions” caused “extensive damage” to the pipelines.

Swedish and Danish authorities have been investigating four holes in the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines. The Danish findings appear to be similar to those of Swedish prosecutors, who had said that two holes seemed to have been caused by explosions.

Video footage filmed by a Norwegian robotics company, which was published by a Swedish media outlet, shows a large breach in the Nord Stream 1 pipeline, where it was evident that some 50 meters were missing due to the explosion.

Whose fault is the explosions in Nord Stream?

Some European officials have suggested that Russia may have been responsible for the explosions, but the Kremlin categorically denied such accusations.

A senior American official also denied that Washington was involved in the incident, although there are those who believe that the United States has much to gain from the collapse of the Nord Stream pipelines because European nations would increase their dependence on American natural gas.

Supplies through Nord Stream 1 had stopped even before the leaks were found due to a dispute over Western sanctions imposed over the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
