After receiving dozens of illegal migrants sent by Joe Biden in clandestine flights, the governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, proposed to respond by sending them to other states, or failing that, to Delaware, the president’s home state.
“If he’s not going to support the border being secure, then he should be able to have everyone there,” said DeSantis who claims he will send migrant flights to Delaware.
“If they’re going to come here, we’ll provide buses for them,” the governor said of migrants arriving on flights. “I will send them to Delaware, I will,” he reiterated.
According to the Republican governor’s office, the Democratic administration has sent at least 70 flights to Florida with dozens of illegal migrants who are subsequently released; in that situation, DeSantis threatened to move them to other states.
Christina Pushaw, the governor’s press secretary, told the New York Post that while DeSantis’ mention of Delaware was an ironic reference to the president’s home state, the governor’s idea of sending migrants out of Florida is no joke.
“To the extent that the federal government is paying for them to go all over the country and relocate them to Jacksonville, would it be illegal for us to send them somewhere else? That’s something I think we’d like to look at,” Pushaw said.
It is unknown whether DeSantis will ultimately follow through on a threat to move illegal migrants to other states in response to secret flights coming into Florida.
The Washington Examiner reported that the Biden administration has refused to tell the governor’s office who is facilitating the migrant flights between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m.
The seriousness of the movement of these people to different states in the country was evidenced by a murder that occurred in Florida and was allegedly perpetrated by a migrant who posed as a child and circumvented the controls of the authorities.
The case came to light after the New York Post reported that a 24-year-old Honduran citizen who was charged with murder posed as an unaccompanied minor. DeSantis later denounced that the migrant arrived in Florida thanks to Biden’s secret flights.
The state government is already suing the Biden administration over its “catch and release” policy.
The Florida governor said on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” that he is analyzing a series of actions to penalize companies that facilitate secret flights into the state. He noted that he is analyzing banning them from state contracts and denying them access to the Florida market.
“We’re looking at what we can do. I think that they use these private contractors. So what we’re looking at is how can we fight back against the contractors. We can obviously deny them state contracts, which we will do. Can we deny them access to Florida’s market generally? Can we tax them? Can we do things to provide disincentives so they can’t do it? So we’re going to do whatever we can to do it,” he said.
