“We will act in the state of Florida to protect people. People should not be cast aside for making a medical decision for themselves,” Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said Friday.

The Republican governor’s remarks came in response to Biden’s vaccine mandate which orders companies with more than 100 workers to require their employees to be vaccinated or otherwise test negative for COVID-19 every week.

“They shouldn’t lose their jobs. They shouldn’t be unable to put food on the table just because they made a different decision than the powers that be are demanding they make,” DeSantis said during a press conference.

DeSantis will act against vaccine mandates

Likewise, DeSantis insisted that he will take action as governor to deal with the executive order. In that sense, he warned that if the measure is not stopped, the federal government could move forward with other similar announcements.

“It’s coming from Washington instituting an unprecedented mandate, which even his own people recognized is unconstitutional. That’s not leadership. The problem I have with Joe Biden is that this guy doesn’t take responsibility for anything. He’s always trying to blame other people,” DeSantis said.

For his part, the Democratic president indicated that he will take action if the governors do not cooperate with the White House plan to confront the pandemic. “If these governors do not help fight the pandemic, I will use my power as president to get them out of the way,” he said.

Biden said that “it is not about freedom”, in an attempt to justify the mandatory vaccination mandate that affects almost 100 million citizens nationwide.

He also said that his government is “frustrated” due to the fact that there are almost 80 million Americans who have not yet been vaccinated. He also took the opportunity to emphasize that the vaccine is safe and effective.
