Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed House Bill 7061 into law. It is a tax cut package in Florida to ensure the state remains one of the most tax-friendly environments in the nation.

“In Florida, we are providing more than $168 million in taxpayer savings for families and businesses,” said Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Similarly, he thanked the legislators who pushed for the measure. “I am proud that we have legislative leaders like Senate President Wilton Simpson, Speaker Chris Sprowls, Senator Ana Maria Rodriguez and Representative Bobby Payne who understand that we empower Floridians through tax cuts, not increases,” DeSantis said.

On the other hand, Florida’s Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis noted that the measure comes at a good time for Floridians. “I was honored to join Governor DeSantis this morning in Pensacola to highlight the hurricane preparedness sales tax holiday, just in time for hurricane season.”

The disaster preparedness sales tax exemption was extended from seven to 10 days, from May 28 to June 6. The annual back-to-school tax exemption was extended to 10 days, from July 31 to Aug. 9. And the new tax holiday designed to encourage recreation and entertainment attendance will be from Thursday, July 1, to Wednesday, July 7.
