Former Republican Vice President Dick Cheney appeared in a new campaign ad for his daughter, Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney, claiming that “there is no greater threat to our republic” than former President Donald Trump.
“In our nation’s 246-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump,” former Vice President Cheney says in the spot, in which he refers to the 45th president as a “coward” who “tried to steal” the 2020 election.

“A real man wouldn’t lie to his supporters,” the veteran Wyoming politician continues. “He lost his election, and he lost big. I know it, he knows it, and, deep down, I think most Republicans know it.”
He further states that “there is nothing more important” in his daughter Liz’s career than “leading the effort” to make sure that former President Trump “is never again near the oval office again.”
Rep. Cheney, who holds the second-highest ranking position on the Jan. 6 investigative committee and voted in favor of impeachment against Trump, will face attorney Harriet Hegeman this coming Aug. 16 in the Wyoming GOP primary and, according to recent polls, could lose her seat in Congress.
Hegeman, who received Trump’s endorsement for the Republican primary in his home state, leads the race by more than 22 points over his challenger, and all indications are that he will replace Cheney in the House in January 2022
Liz Cheney is one of the 10 Republican representatives who voted in favor of impeachment against the former Republican president last year. She is one of 6 who, according to an Axios report, will lose the race against Trump’s nominees.
