To talk about an entity of bureaucrats in charge of deciding what is wrong and what is right, having the power to silence citizens, is typical of communist regimes, but that such a possibility is being considered in the United States should make us reflect on the deep damage that the radical left has already caused in the land of the free.
Yesterday we learned that DHS is putting its Disinformation Governance Board project on hold for now. It is absolutely necessary that this intention be stopped and buried forever, this country cannot afford such levels of socialism and state control.
Freedom of speech is something that must be defended from any political position, even the left that today may flirt with the idea of silencing those who spread right-wing ideas has to think that in a few years the Government will change and the “Disinformation Governance Board” could be managed by a Republican. Do Democrats want to be silenced by those who think differently? The fight should not be about who silences whom, but that no one should silence the voices of individuals. We should all agree on that.
Precisely the last two years — due to Covid — we have seen the great amount of lies that are told from the high spheres of power, most people distrust politicians and the State, allowing them to be the ones who regulate what we say even in social networks is a huge danger. Information is power and the best thing is that each of us can have access to as much information as possible and can draw our own conclusions.
Let’s leave the “Disinformation Governance Board” for places like Venezuela or Cuba — regimes that, unfortunately, are now friends with this administration — where people could go to jail if they dare to say something that may anger the regime.
