A Disinformation Operation was the Trojan Horse for Ukraine to Weaken the Russian Army

The Russian invasion in Ukraine exceeded 200 days; however, it seems that Vladimir Putin lost the battle after Volodimir Zelenski announced that his army had recovered kilometers of territory with a strategy that surprised the Russians.

The Russian army was forced to retreat in eastern Ukraine, losing control of Balekleya, Kupiansk, and Izium, a strategic logistical area.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that they have already liberated more than 3,000 square kilometers of territory seized by Russian troops following a counteroffensive focused on the Kharkiv region this month.

A New York Times report notes that the Ukrainian advance has been made possible by exchanging intelligence data with the United States throughout the summer. According to official sources quoted by the newspaper, Washington provided Kyiv with information on command posts, ammunition depots, and other important Russian Army posts during the war.

The Times revealed that the Ukrainian military devised a plan to launch a broad assault in the south to recapture Kherson and isolate Mariupol from Russian forces in the east, and to that end, decided to open talks with the U.S. and U.K. that ultimately brought good results.

“Time was key, American and Ukrainian officials considered. To implement an effective counterattack, the Ukrainians had to deploy before the first snowfall, when Russian President Vladimir Putin will be able to use his control of gas supplies to pressure Europe,” notes the Times.

The Pentagon policy chief Colin Kahl told the Times that they saw the Russians redeploying their best forces to the south, so they changed the strategy. The counteroffensive would not be focused on Kherson but on Kharkiv, where Russian troops were weaker.

But the plan’s success came about thanks to the military aid of the United States, which has given $14.5 billion for the purchase of armaments. The Ukrainian armed forces sent the U.S. a detailed list of the weapons they needed for the plan to succeed.

The Russians are weakened

American officials claim that “Russia has been weakened.” “By failing to detect the agglomeration of Ukrainian troops around Kharkiv, the Russian military has evidenced its incompetence and demonstrates that it lacks solid intelligence. Its command and control has been decimated, and it is having trouble supplying its troops, which gives Ukraine a chance in the coming weeks,” the sources assured the Times.

According to Kyiv Independent, the loss of Kupiansk and Izium, two logistically important transport hubs, ends Russia’s chances of seizing the entire eastern Donbas region, consisting of Donetsk and Lugansk provinces.
